Atlantic Pacific hires ex-Bear Stearns exec

Garett Stoffels, former managing director of Bear Stearns’ real estate and lodging group, has joined the placement agent in its New York office as co-head of direct private placement. The head of Deutsche Bank’s private equity placement Steven Tuch also joins the firm in Connecticut as co-head.

Atlantic-Pacific has appointed former Bear Stearns’ managing director Garett Stoffels as co-head of its direct private placement group in New York.

Stoffels was managing director of the bank’s real estate and lodging investment banking group advising private equity real estate firms on capital raising efforts and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Bear Stearns, Stoffels worked in the real estate investment banking groups of JP Morgan and Credit Suisse.

Atlantic Pacific has also hired the head of Deutsche Bank’s private equity placement group, Steven Tuch, to co-head the direct private placements group at the Greenwich, Connecticut office.

Tuch was previously head of Thomas Weisel’s placement business. He has also worked for The Blackstone Group and Corporate Partners during his career, according to a statement.

Atlantic-Pacific added in the statement that former investment banking analyst Jonathan Zald had joined its New York office as associate.
