Alpha launches £400m UK fund

Sir John Beckwith, who developed a number of investment management businesses including Europa Capital Partners, has launched the Alpha Rockmount UK Real Estate fund, as it seeks “quality” assets in across the country.


Alpha Real Capital, the real estate investment platform launched by UK entrepreneur Sir John Beckwith, aims to raise £400 million (€447 million; $669 million) for investment in assets in need of active management across all sectors in the UK.

The London-based value-added investor has launched the Alpha Rockmount UK Real Estate fund, a vehicle which will be managed by executives from both Alpha and its partner Rockmount. In addition, Alpha will coinvest in the fund.

The new fund is the latest in a series from Alpha, which already manages vehicles such as the France and Spain-focused Alpha Pyrenees Trust, India vehicle, Alpha Tiger Property Trust, and Alpha German Property Income fund.

The latest vehicles’ investment advisory board will comprise veteran UK real estate professionals including Roger Carey, a former managing director of UK property company Slough Estates, CBRE Capital markets chairman, Greg Nicholson, and former Great Portland Estates chairman Richard Peskin.

Beckwith ic chairman of Alpha and has backed a numbre of real estate businesses including Europa Capital Partners. 

In addition to offices in Europe, Alpha has opened in India where it operates as Alpha Real Capital India and in Thailand.

In September, Gerald Parkes, former head of Lehman Brothers private equity real estate in Europe, reportedly teamed up Beckwith to scout investment opportunities in Europe.
