AEW hires Quinlan Private CFO

The Paris-based real estate fund manager has appointed Ronan O’Donoghue as director of fund management

AEW Europe, the pan Europe property fund manager, has appointed Ronan O’Donoghue in its London office as director of finance.

O’Donoghue is a former chief financial officer at Dublin-based Quinlan Private, which on Monday officially relaunched as Avestus Capital Partners.

The appointment is something of a return to the firm for O’Donghue as he joined Quinlan in 2006 from AEW affiliate Curzon Global Partners, where was finance director for four years.

AEW – led in Europe by Christian Delaire – employs around 250 professionals in 11 offices in the region, and is headquartered in Paris, while Tristan is a London-based investment management boutique and sub-advisor and portfolio manager for the AEW Europe Funds European Property Investors and European Property Investors Special Opportunities funds.

The rebranding to Avestus has come almost a year after Quinlan Private founder Derek Quinlan left the firm.

It is led by Olan Cremin, CEO, Thomas Down, Peter Donnelly and Mark O’Donnell.

In a statement, Avestus said it would take advantage of opportunities in European property markets following the recent downturn and planned to raise capital from international institutional and professional investors in Europe, the US and the Middle East.
