AEW Europe hires new capital raiser

Firm hires Schalk Visser from CBRE Investors. He is charged with co-ordinating fund raising for all of AEW Europe’s funds.


AEW Europe, the Paris-based firm, has appointed a new fundraising chief for all of its capital raising exploits.

The firm, which controls more than €17 billion of assets in the region, has appointed Schalk Visser as managing director, head of investor relations, it said.

Visser is joining from Los Angeles-based CBRE Investors where he was a senior director of investor relations of since 2008 responsible for raising investment capital from institutional investors across continental Europe and the UK. According to a statement, he raised €3 billion for a number of global and pan European real estate investments vehicles and separate accounts for different strategies. Prior to that he was a currency trader.

The new capital raising chief will report to AEW Europe’s chief executive officer, Christian Delaire, and will be based in London.

Delaire said: “Schalk Visser’s appointment comes at an important time in the European real estate investment cycle with deal flow picking-up and interesting opportunities starting to arise in many markets for those managers who emerged with their track record intact and with the capital available to take advantage of them.”

Monica O’Neill, a former head of investor relations left AEW last October to join Tristan Capital Partners.
