Doug Weill sees opportunity for managers corralling capital in customized fund structures, despite a continued slowdown in private real estate fundraising in 2017.
The last year has seen a burst of activity in non-traded real estate investment trust launches by managers with a long history in opportunistic funds, for example. For managers raising institutional capital, funds of one are also a bright spot in an otherwise “challenging” fundraising environment, the co-founder of placement agency Hodes Weill said.
Weill also highlighted multifamily and industrial, among other property types, as areas of continued investor interest.
