UK private equity real estate head joins UK reit board

Land Securities, the London-listed property company with assets valued at just less than £10bn under management, has appointed Orchard Street Investment Management chairman Chris Bartram as a non-executive director.

Chris Bartram, the founder and chairman of London-based fund manager Orchard Street Investment Management, has been appointed by UK REIT Land Securities as a non-executive director.

Bartram adds the role to his non-executive directorship at fellow London-based property company The Crown Estate. He previously held positions at Haslemere and Jones Lang Wootton Fund Management, a predecessor to LaSalle Investment Management.

Orchard Street Investment Management manages funds including the £300 million ($493 million; €350 million) Special Situations Commercial Property Fund alongside GIC Real Estate, the property investment arm of the government of Singapore.

The fund, which closed to investors last year, will run for seven years and is expected to make up to 15 investments. It is targeting assets which Bartram described at the time as having “active management potential “.
