TH Real Estate continues APAC hiring spree

Former JP Morgan executive, Shusaku Watanabe, is the latest appointment in a string of Asia-based hires for the London-based fund manager.

TH Real Estate, the real estate management firm owned by TIAA, has continued its hiring spree in Asia-Pacific with the appointment of former JP Morgan Asset Management fund manager, Shusaku Watanabe (pictured).

Watanabe, who worked as the fund manager for JPAM's Tokyo Recovery Fund, has joined TH Real Estate as director of capital transactions, Asia. At JPAM he was responsible for marketing, structuring and closing the fund. The fund was wrapped up in 2015.

At TH Real Estate he will lead a team in evaluating, structuring and originating deals across the region.

Previous roles include fund manager at Aviva Investors, and vice president, investment banking for Macquarie Capital Securities in Japan.

Watanabe joins other recent appointments, namely Harry Tan, as head of research for Asia Pacific, and Carsten Kebbedies as head of business development for the region, in TH Real Estate's Singapore office. The firm also recently hired William Keaveney as a senior analyst based in the firm's Sydney office.

TH Real Estate has platforms in America, Asia and Europe, representing around $30.7 billion of real estate assets across approximately 50 funds and mandates. Together with parent company TIAA's US real estate assets, the group manages a real estate platform of $96.3 billion, according to the firm's website.
