Terra Firma director joins NY real estate firm

A director at Guy Hands’ private equity firm Terra Firma is quitting his post to become managing director of W P Carey’s London office. Tom Quigley will be tasked with generating deals in Europe.

Tom Quigley, a 20-year veteran of corporate finance in London, is leaving Guy Hands’ private equity firm Terra Firma to join New York-listed sale and leaseback specialist, W  P Carey.

Quigley will serve as head of the firm’s London office and will be primarily responsible for generating and executing its investment activity in Europe, W P Carey said in a statement.

The former managing director at ING Barings bank and head of hospitality, leisure and retail advisory group at Close Brothers Corporate Finance joins his new firm at a time when it is expanding in the region. It recently opened an asset management office in Amsterdam.

Of Quigley’s appointment, Gordon DuGan, chief executive and president of W P Carey, said in a statement: “As we continue to source and develop opportunities for sale-leaseback and related financings in overseas markets, our ability to draw on his knowledge and substantial deal history will be a major asset in further developing our European franchise.”

The firm owns a global investment portfolio worth more than $10 billion (€7 billion).
