TAN-EU hires former Schroder professional

James Buckley, former head of Asia property multi-manager manager at Schroders, has joined TAN-EU Capital.

TAN-EU Capital, a boutique Asian real estate fund manager, has hired James Buckley as executive director responsible for investments and leading capital raising initiatives.

Prior to joining TAN-EU, Buckley was head of Asia property multi manager for Schroder Property where he headed up investments across Asia Pacific for the London-based firm. Previously, he was investment director at Hong Kong-based Harvest Capital Partners where he set up and managed the investment team which invested across China and Hong Kong, and senior investment manager at UK property company Grosvenor where he helped set up three Asian real estate funds.

Rachel Renucci-Tan, chief executive officer of TAN-EU Capital, said the firm’s new hire would lead the fund management of SOTAN China Real Estate I, a real estate club investing in special situation transactions consisting mainly of residential-anchored mixed-use developments across second-tier cities in China.

“One of his key tasks will be to work closely with our joint-venture partner in securing investments for the club,” she said.

TAN-EU Capital was founded in 2009 to manage funds and joint ventures with Asia-based partners. It was launched in joint venture with SOCAM, the listed Hong Kong subsidiary of Shui On Group. SOCAM is a well known real estate developer in mainland China which has a platform for both first and second tier China cities. It predominantly targets special situation projects, mainly in residential anchored mixed-use developments across the country.
