SGAM installs new alternatives chief

Olivier Lecler has been appointed CEO of Société Générale Asset Management’s alternative investment platform.

Société Générale Asset Management, the French investment management group with more than €300 billion in assets, has promoted Olivier Lecler to chief executive officer of SGAM Alternative Investments.

Prior to the appointment, Lecler had a number of senior management roles at SGAM Group, which he joined in 2006.

In his new job, Lecler will oversee a multi-strategy investment operation with 400 employees and €41.8 billion under management as at 31st March 2008.

Among SGAM Alternative Investments’ business lines are a €1.1 billion real estate investment group, a €7.6 billion hedge fund operation, and a €1.7 billion private equity platform.

The private equity business was established in 1999 and comprises funds investing in new technology venture capital, expansion capital, LBOs and third-party private equity funds. Geographically, the focus is on Europe and emerging markets.
