Schroders appoints Asia head of multi manager

The UK asset manager continues to beef up its operation with the appointment of James Buckley as head of its Asia fund of funds.

Schroders has appointed James Buckley as head of its Asia property multi-manager business, it said today.

Buckley will be based in Hong Kong and is joining from US real estate investment and consulting firm Harvest Capital Partners where he was director of investment and acquisitions.

In a statement, London-based Schroders said he would be reporting to Jenny Buck, Schroders’ head of property multi-manager.
Buckley will be researching and investing in unlisted real estate funds throughout Asia.

Buck said: “We are investing heavily in the global expansion of Schroders’ property multi-manager business. Last year we made senior hires in Europe and we are continuing to grow our business into Asia.”

Buckley added in the statement: “Over the last five years, the non-listed Asian real estate markets have really opened up with lots of opportunities throughout the region.”

Schroders has managed property funds since 1971 and has around €10.5 billion ($16.6 billion) of gross property assets under management, excluding crossholdings. It has 130 people employed in offices in London, Wiesbaden, Amsterdam, Milan, Jersey, Paris, Luxembourg, Stockholm, Zurich and Hong Kong.
