Schroder hires Rob Bingen

The former pension fund manager will join Schroeder Property as head of European Property Multi-Manager.

Schroder Property has appointed Rob Bingen, formerly of Dutch pension fund giants ABP and PVF Pensioenen, as Head of European Property Multi-Manager.

Bingen has 15 years experience as an LP, and also has experience investing directly through several club deals that ABP has entered into. Bingen served as the senior portfolio manager for real estate for ABP, one of Europe’s largest pension funds.

Several former ABP pros have made career moves in the past year. In April Michiel Olland, formerly executive vice president for real estate in Europe and Asia Pacific, left to join SNS Property Finance. In December Gena Cheng, a former portfolio manager at ABP Investments US, joined the new placement agency JT Partners. In September 2006  Peter Wittendorp, a former ABP executive, joined AEW as a managing director and the head of the firm’s Asian operations.

Schroders started its property multi-manager business in 1997 and has since grown the business to over £1.6 billion (€2.2 billion) of funds under management.

Schroders closed its first Continental European Fund of Funds in June 2007 and has subsequently launched Continental European Fund II which is due to have its first closing in September. The firm says Bingen will take over as the Fund Director on his arrival.
