RBC taps Bank of America real estate banker

Dan Teper has been hired by RBC Capital Markets to help expand the bank’s US real estate investment banking group. Teper was previously managing director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

RBC Capital Markets has tapped former Bank of America Merrill Lynch managing director Dan Teper to join its real estate investment banking group.

Teper spent almost a decade with Bank of America, including in the bank’s real estate investment banking team, its mergers and acquisitions group and leading the bank’s global direct real estate capital advisory business.

He joins RBC as managing director, working with John Case and Kevin Stahl, co-heads of the bank’s US real estate investment banking business. He will be based in New York.

Real estate investors have been left facing a dearth of capital in the wake of the credit crisis, as many banks and financial institutions withdrew from the real estate asset class. In a statement, Case said the firm was looking to expand its US real estate investment banking arm and capital markets platforms.
