ProLogis has named former CBRE executive Diane Paddison as the successor to president and chief operating officer Walter Rakowich following his retirement in 2009. Paddison will be executive director of ProLogis’ global operations in the interim.
Paddison was previously president of client accounts at Richard Ellis and served as chief operating officer of Dallas-based development and investment firm Trammell Crow Company before its acquisition by CBRE in 2006.
In a statement Rakowich said he had known Paddison since attending Harvard Business School with her more than 20 years ago, and had “always been impressed by [her] … focus on delivering measurable results. She is exceptionally qualified to oversee global operating activities.”
He was joined by ProLogis chief executive officer Jeffrey Schwartz who said Paddison had a “wealth of key global customer relationships” including with many ProLogis customers. “Her background in developing and implementing process and operations tools will be immensely beneficial as we enhance our infrastructure to support the next phase of our growth,” he added.
Paddison, who will take up her role as executive director on June 3 before succeeding Rakowich next year, was responsible for the global corporate services business at CBRE, leading recruiting, mentoring and succession planning efforts. Paddison started her real estate career at Trammell in 1987 as a leasing agent, holding various management positions before eventually spearheading the firm’s client strategy.
