EUROPE NEWS: MIPIM eyes emerging markets

MIPIM, the world’s largest property show held in Cannes in the south of France each March is pushing emerging markets projects.

Large-scale developments such as the three million-square-feet Dream Hub Youngsan International Business District in Seoul, Korea (pictured), for example, will be featured.

The organisers decided to cancel a separate event for emerging markets called MIPIM Horizons last year and merge it with the much larger MIPIM 2010 event. “In 2009, it was clear that the number of big projects unveiled at MIPIM was relatively low as companies absorbed the effects of the economic situation,” said MIPIM director Nadine Castagna in a statement. “This year, there are signs of improved market confidence.”

Projects in Egypt, Nigeria, Nicaragua, Turkey and South Africa will be in Cannes for the show. Read more from our man in Cannes on PERENEWS.com and in the April issue of PERE.
