Press release: PEI appoints Managing Director – Americas

Colm Gilmore has taken up the reins to help PEI grow in the region's private equity, real estate, infrastructure and private debt markets

For immediate release – PEI is delighted to announce that Colm Gilmore has been appointed as Managing Director – Americas, for the company with effect from 1 Jan 2015.

Colm steps into the role, having previously served as Director – Events for the company since 2008 and will continue to serve on the company’s Executive Committee. Colm joined PEI in March 2004 as a private equity journalist and joined the conference division in 2005. Formerly a private equity attorney, Colm has an LLB from The Queen’s University of Belfast and an MA in Journalism from The University of Westminster.

Colm replaces departing Managing Director, John A. Higgins, who has done an excellent job since his appointment in September 2012, fostering and developing the team in PEI’s New York office and leading the growth of the company’s business in its North American markets. Under John’s stewardship, North America has grown to become PEI’s largest market and represents a significant growth opportunity for the company to establish itself still further as the leading global provider of alternative insight.

Commenting on the appointment, Group Managing Director Tim McLoughlin said: “This is a great appointment for PEI. Colm has been with the business for almost 11 years. He’s not only deeply experienced in alternative asset class markets but also one of our most capable and effective business leaders. There is exciting growth ahead for our brands and our teams across the American continents.”

Colm Gilmore, Managing Director – Americas, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be taking up this new role and the opportunity it provides. We have already built some really strong networking franchises through our private equity conference activity: for CFOs and COOs, Operating Partners, and IR professionals and we also run premier events in real estate, infrastructure and private debt in the US. I am excited to lead the team that will extend PEI’s presence across every arm of our business: information brands, research and analytics, books and advertising. John has done a great job here in New York and I’m delighted to be joining this team and leading it forward into its next phase of growth.”

John Higgins said: “I have enjoyed every moment of my time at PEI. The New York team is a highly committed, exceptionally talented group of people and it has been a pleasure working with them every single day. I’ve known Colm for more than 10 years and there is nobody who better embodies the culture, values and personality of PEI than him. I wish him and PEI every success in the future.”
