Which are the biggest private equity real estate firms in
2016?Welcome to the PERE 50, our list of the world’s largest private equity real estate firms.PERE’s eagerly anticipated annual ranking of the private real estate sector’s best capital aggregators reveals some major movements this year. Find out which firms dropped out and who replaced them on the full PERE 50 2016 ranking here. One of the major themes within the ranking was that the biggest keep getting bigger. The top 10 managers made up 55 percent of the $271 billion of capital collected, corralling $149 billion for opportunistic or value-added strategies.Looking at the PERE 50 as a whole it seems that more investors are looking to gain exposure to real estate for a host of macroeconomic and portfolio allocation reasons. To make it into the top 50 a firm needed to break the $2 billion in equity raised barrier – a massive uptick on last year’s $1.785 billion. Expect that number to be even higher next year as investor sentiment remains unchanged.
