Starting today, PERE’s editorial team will be researching and compiling shortlists of nominations for the 44 categories included in the awards, the industry’s highest profile accolades. The awards recognize the achievements of the people and organizations that helped write the industry’s story in 2017.
Will Blackstone put further distance between itself and the pack by significantly adding to the 55 awards it has amassed since the PERE Global Awards began? Somewhat mirroring its fundraising achievements, the New York-based sector behemoth has amassed more awards than the next four highest award winners combined.

Meanwhile, will the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board strengthen its dominance among the sector’s most significant institutional investors? With nine awards, the Canadian pension manager is currently three awards ahead of second placed Singaporean sovereign wealth fund, GIC Private.
On the individual front, a two-horse tussle has developed between Blackstone’s head Jonathan Gray and Starwood Capital’s founder Barry Sternlicht. The latter was also the winner of the first PERE lifetime achievement award, the only pure-editorial selection among the categories.
The rest of the awards are to be voted on by you, our trusted readership.
Voting starts at the turn of this month and PERE will be back in touch to alert you to where to register your nods. The winners will be announced next March.

In the meantime, as has become customary for us, we invite you to submit nomination suggestions via a dedicated form. Suggestions will be accepted until the close of business on Tuesday, 21 November after which the form will be closed and nominations will be determined.
The process through which our winners earn their places is rigorous and fair. As with every year, nominees are selected via a lengthy process that involves pouring over research collected on the most active capital providers, managers and advisors. Senior team members from PERE and parent company PEI then consult industry leaders to construct an impartial shortlist.
Please note that submissions are not prerequisites or guarantees for inclusion in the nominations process. Moreover, PERE’s editorial team will include them in the mix alongside our own considerations before determining four nominations per category. There will also be a fifth, blank category available for firms and individuals not nominated.
So without further ado, we officially declare the 2017 PERE Global Awards process underway! Please click on our dedicated form to submit your nominations proposals.
