Welcome to the PERE 50, PERE’s signature ranking of the world’s largest private equity real estate firms.
Firms are ranked on the amount of capital raised for private equity real estate strategies in the last five years.
This year, the PERE 50 reflects a marked increase in fundraising, demonstrating institutional demand for higher risk and return real estate investments. With a combined total of $333.75 billion, there was almost 20 percent more capital raised for the top 50 value-added and opportunistic real estate fund managers in 2018 than in 2017. The minimum amount of capital required to make the ranking this year was $2.57 billion, up about 6 percent on 2017 and a huge 80 percent on five years ago. A $20 billion-plus club has materialized at the top end of the 2018 ranking and the number of fund managers which have raised more than $10 billion in the last five years has grown from four to seven.
Alongside the ranking is our special report complete with descriptions of the fundraising activities of the 50 firms which made the cut, as well as analysis and commentary on the results.
