Macquarie Capital strengthens NY real estate team

The Sydney-based advisor has hired former BofA and Citi executives to be New York-based managing directors for its real estate group.

Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investing arm of Australian investment bank, Macquarie Group, has added two senior executives to its real estate group.

Prabhu Raman and John Wieker have joined as managing directors. Both will be based in Macquarie’s New York office.

Raman was previously at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA) where he was the global chief operating officer and portfolio manager for the firm’s global real estate investments division. In this role, he oversaw structuring and operations for the $3 billion Merrill Lynch Real Estate Principal Investments unit.

Wieker was most recently a director in the real estate investment banking at Citigroup Global Markets, where he lead deal execution for REITs, private equity and hedge fund clients across a range of property sectors.

“We are delighted to have Prabhu and John join the team as we continue to build out our Global Real Estate platform,” commented Chris Green, global head of real estate for Macquarie Capital.

Sydney-based Macquarie Capital provides advisory and capital raising services to corporate and government clients involved in public mergers and acquisitions, divestments, debt and equity fund raising and corporate restructuring.
