Savills IM continues Australia expansion

Former GE Capital executive Annie Li joins the firm to work with its recently appointed Australia head of investments.

Savills Investment Management, the real estate investment management business of the London-listed property services firm Savills, has made another hire to its Sydney, Australia office.

Annie Li, formerly of GE Capital Real Estate, has joined as associate director and portfolio manager.

Li has worked in the office, industrial, retail and mixed-use sectors across acquisition, asset management, property management and debt financing. She has been involved in over A$1 billion ($765 million; €707 million) of capital transactions during her career. Before GE Capital Real Estate Li also held roles at Fosun Property Holdings, DEXUS and AMP.

In her new role, Li will work closely with Lee Tredwell, who was appointed head of investments in January, to manage existing investments and help grow Savills IM’s Australian platform.

“Annie is joining the Savills IM team during an exciting period of growth in Australia. With her knowledge and experience of the Australian property market, I believe she will be an important addition to our team as we seek to expand further in the Asia-Pacific region,” Tredwell commented.

““Her appointment bolsters Savills IM’s presence as a local operating partner that is capable of independently sourcing and managing our assets across different markets as we seek to pursue other opportunities across the region.”

Savills IM, which currently manages approximately €17 billion of assets, has been in growth mode following its capture last year of SEB Asset Management.

In May, the firm appointed former chief operating officer James Bury as chief executive for Europe and Michael Flynn, who worked previously as Savills IM’s managing director and head of South East Asia and Australia, as chief executive in Asia Pacific.
