Morgan Stanley professional joins Tristan

Ian Laming, a former co-head of equity and fixed income research, has reportedly joined Ric Lewis’ Tristan Capital Partners in London.

Tristan Capital Partners, the London-based advisory firm set up by former AEW Europe chief investment officer Ric Lewis, has hired a former co-head of equity and fixed income research at Morgan Stanley.

According to the Financial Times, Ian Laming’s appointment shows how the real estate sector continues to attract talent from London's financial services sector.

Tristan Capital Partners was established earlier this year when Lewis left his full time role at AEW Europe amid a shake-up of the company.

Lewis agreed, however, to continue to manage two AEW funds – a core plus vehicle, European Property Investors, and a higher risk, higher return fund, European Property Investors Special Opportunities under the Tristan umbrella.

Recently, European Property Investors Special Opportunities (EPISO) made its sixth purchase. It acquired a building in Wimbledon, London, from PRUPIM, the property investment division of Prudential. AEW bought Wimbledon Bridge House, an office building and car park of 168,000 square feet for £40 million ($66.8 million; €45.7 million), a deal reflecting a net initial yield of 10 percent.
