M&G Real Estate has appointed Jonathan Hsu as head of research for Asia.

Based in Singapore, Hsu will focus on real estate markets research in the region and help inform the investment management teams in making strategic and tactical investments for the firm’s property portfolio, according a statement announcing his hire.

He will be reporting to Chiang Ling Ng, chief executive and chief investment officer of the real estate arm of the UK pension fund Prudential.

Hsu has more than ten years of real estate market experience in the region. Previously, he was an associate director at Invesco Real Estate in Hong Kong, and has also held senior positions at property consultancy CBRE.

“We are pleased that a high calibre professional with the experience of Hsu has joined us. Jonathan’s deep expertise in driving property research will help further our investment goal of delivering great value to our clients by unlocking prospective performance of the property markets within Asia Pacific, and continuing to improve risk-adjusted returns for our core Asia property portfolio,” commented Ng in the statement.

Hsu takes over the leadership role from Cuong Nguyen who joined PGIM Real Estate as its Asia head of investment research in August this year after working for around six years with M&G.
