Macquarie adds to transaction fundraising team

Former Lehman Brothers investment bankers Michael Meyers and Sean Fitzgerald have joined Macquarie’s private placement team, where they will focus on raising equity for transactions.

Macquarie Capital has hired three former Lehman Brothers investment bankers in its New York office since the beginning of the year.

Michael Meyers and Sean Fitzgerald have joined Macquarie’s transaction private placement team, where they will raise capital for both Macquarie- and non-Macquarie-led transactions. Both will focus primarily on raising equity.

Meyers was previously the head of Lehman’s equity syndicate private placements team, while Fitzgerald was a senior vice president in the private equity syndicate team.

A year ago, Macquarie hired former HSBC head of equity capital markets Jim Rossman for its then newly established US Equity Capital Markets business. In September, it added Timothy Gould, another former Lehman professional, as a managing director and head of US equity syndicate.

A third former Lehman Brothers professional, David Baron, joined Macquarie since the beginning of the year to head its US financial sponsors group. Baron was previously a managing director in the principal origination and financial sponsors groups at Lehman.

The Deal first reported on the appointments.
