New York State Teachers' Retirement System is searching for managers to diversify its real estate investments via separate accounts. New managers will be given up to $500 million and the capital will target core office, industrial, retail and residential properties.

Telstra Superannuation Fund has appointed Miriam Patterson new Head of Property and Infrastructure after five months of acting in the position.

Ivanhoé Cambridge promoted Claude Sirois to President of its retail platform.

Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund has approved commitments of $75 million to Starwood Global Opportunity Fund XI and $25 million to Artemis Real Estate Partners Healthcare Fund I.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) announced Mark Machin as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 13, 2016. He is currently CPPIB’s Senior Managing Director & Head of International. 

California Public Employees' Retirement System’s Board has selected Pension Consulting Alliance as its new real estate consultant, with a caveat that PCA must reduce its proposed fee by 15 percent.

Claridge partnered with Ivanhoé Cambridge to create a vehicle to invest in mid-size residential, industry and office properties across Montreal. The target investment size ranges between $5 million and $15 million.

City of Phoenix Employees' Retirement System has approved a commitment of $25 million to Wheelock Fund V, a US opportunistic/value-add real estate fund.

Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund’s board announced a commitment of $50 million to Greystar Equity Partners IX at its April meeting.

 

13 May 

Khazanah Nasional is launching a new office in London in mid-May, representing its fifth foreign office after Beijing, Mumbai, San Francisco and Istanbul. It appoints Javier Santiso to head the new office.


12 May

Insight Investment has appointed Tom McKeon as the Head of Farmland. He was previously a Chief Executive Officer at Hassad Australia, the food and agribusiness subsidiary of the Qatar Investment Authority.

 

11 May

Australian Catholic Superannuation and Retirement Fund has more interest in global real estate investments through direct investment, co-investment and separate accounts. Besides, the Fund prefers mature fund managers with good track record when considering fund investments.

 

10 May

The New Zealand Superannuation Fund sold the stakes of five real estate fund to Partners Group. The funds being sold included Orien European Real Estate Fund III, Mountgrange Real Estate Opportunity Fund, MoREOF Unit Trust, Red Fort India Real Estate Fund II and Gateway Capital Real Estate Fund III.

Nan Fung Group expressed that they are interested in co-investment and first-time managers when considering real estate investments in the near future.

Teacher Retirement System of Texas has approved $150 million commitment to AEW Senior Housing Investors III.

 

Schroders Investment Management has appointed Eva Granlund as Head of Nordic Investment. She will report to Tony Smedley and will be based in Stockholm office.


5 May

Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System has appointed Bryan Lewis as its new Chief Investment Officer. 

 New York State Teachers' Retirement System has approved $100 million commitment to each Gaw Capital's Gateway Real Estate Fund V and Blackstone's Real Estate Partners Europe V.

   

4 May 

Employees Provident Fund of Malaysia currently allocates four percent of asset to alternative investments, including real estate and infrastructure. Looking forward, it aims to achieve eight to ten percent on alternatives.

City of Philadelphia Board of Pensions & Investment has approved a $25 million commitment to LEM Multifamily Senior Equity Fund IV. The retirement fund is currently invested in LEM III.

New York State Common Retirement Fund is looking for a Director of Fixed Income, a Real Assets Investment Officer, a Senior Real Assets Investment Officer and a Chief Risk Officer.
