First Avenue hires exec amid US expansion

Chris Tehranian joined the London-based placement agent’s New York office as head of US project management.

First Avenue, a global advisory and placement agent focused on private funds and companies, has boosted its US team with the hire of Chris Tehranian, a former principal at Meketa Investment Group, PERE's sister publication, Infrastructure Investor, reported Wednesday.

Tehranian takes over as First Avenue’s head of US project management and will work out of the London-based firm’s New York office. The move comes as First Avenue is expanding its US presence to meet demand, according to head of Americas Jess Larsen.

Tehranian joined Meketa, an employee-owned consulting firm focused on real assets, in 2007 and in August 2015 became part of its ownership team. At Meketa, Tehranian led the infrastructure and real assets private market practice as the firm’s head of infrastructure research. Before Meketa, Tehranian worked for the Gulf Power Company and previously Franklin Templeton Investments.

“Joining a company that already has a very strong brand as well as a good team and a good reputation in the marketplace, that was all very appealing to me,” Tehranian told Infrastructure Investor. “Hopefully, my background and experience can help continue their momentum in the infrastructure and real assets space.”

In addition to its New York and London locations, First Avenue has offices in Hong Kong, Sydney, Dallas and Seoul. The firm’s clients have included real estate fund managers such as London-based M&G Investments and São Paulo’s VBI Real Estate.
