Exclusive: Sixpoint hires former Virginia pension exec

Brian Bolcar has joined Sixpoint Partners’ New York office as a director.

Brian Bolcar has left his role as senior private equity portfolio manager at the Virginia Retirement System to become a director at investment bank, advisory firm and placement agency Sixpoint Partners, according to a source familiar with the matter.

In the newly-created role at Sixpoint, Bolcar will focus on distribution for the southeast US as well as other regions across the country. He will begin work at the firm’s New York office on 13 January.

Prior to joining the Virginia Retirement System, Bolcar worked at Jeffries and at Merrill Lynch, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Bolcar’s move follows a slew of hires Sixpoint made in December. The firm opened regional offices in Chicago and San Francisco and hired five investment professionals, including managing director Matt Thornton who focuses on Midwest distribution. Sixpoint also hired vice president Ryan Carey, associate Sean Joffe and analyst Michael Devlin.

Sixpoint focuses on fund placement, secondaries and co-investments. The firm does not take on more than five fund clients at a time and the majority of its fund placement clients focus on raising between $200 million and $2 billion per fund. The New York-based firm was co-founded by Eric Zoller and Seth Siegel.
