Ex-Dexia infra head in new multi-asset debt fund

René Kassis is heading a team of four at La Banque Postale’s asset management division working on a new real estate and infrastructure senior debt fund. The fund will target primary and secondary deals across Europe and is expected to reach a first close by the fall.

René Kassis, the long-time, Paris-based head of infrastructure at Dexia, has left the bank to join the asset management division of La Banque Postale, where he is setting up a senior debt fund targeting real estate and infrastructure investments across Europe.

Kassis is heading a four-member team that has already started discussions with potential cornerstone investors, with a view to holding a first close on the fund by the fall.

The fund’s size has not been ascertained, but PERE's sister publication Infrastructure Investor understands it will target investments in the primary and secondary markets.

The former Dexia head is a veteran banker with some two decades of project finance experience under his belt. He spent 10 years as Dexia’s head of project finance, with the remaining decade of his project finance career spent at Credit Lyonnais, where Kassis held several posts.

La Banque Postale Asset Management has close to €130 billion of assets under management. It is part of La Banque Postale, the banking arm of France’s national post service.
