Evans Randall recruits asset manager

London based bank and investment manager has appointed Simon Laker as head of its €5.7bn European real estate portfolio.

Evans Randall, the privately held investment banking and private equity group, has appointed Simon Laker as director and head of asset management for its £5bn (€5.57 billion; $7.1 billion) pan-Europe real estate portfolio.

Laker, who was previously director of European asset management at specialist property fund manager F&C REIT, will enable the firm to create additional value from its portfolio of “trophy “investments in the UK and Continental Europe, the firm said.

The new addition has spent 15 years in property and asset management including stints at three property services firms before moving to F&C REIT. His appointment follows Evans Randall’s recruitment in July last year of the former Capmark team, headed by Andrew Haines and Sam Mellor, to launch a mezzanine and preferred equity fund and a $500 million joint venture with National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

Evans Randall is a privately-owned investment banking and private equity group specialising in structured finance, private equity and commercial real estate transactions.

In the real estate sector, Evans Randall sources, arranges, underwrites and manages large-scale commercial and retail property investments on behalf of itself and its investor clients. It targets real estate returns of up to 20 percent and in some cases higher.
