Data from PERE Research & Analytics reveal that the European private real estate market held a strong showing in Q1 2014. Blackstone Real Estate Partners Europe IV, which held a final close on €5.1 billion, was the largest fund raised in the quarter. Also, $14.6 billion was raised for European investments, the largest amount raised for any region in the quarter. Even without counting the Blackstone fund, fundraising for Europe still surpassed North America, the previously dominant region for private real estate fundraising.
Other significant Europe focused funds closed in the quarter were European Property Investors Special Opportunities 3 managed by Tristan Capital Partners, M&G Real Estate Debt Fund II & III managed by M&G Investment Management, and UK Real Estate Recovery II managed by Aviva Investors.
