London-based CBPE Capital closed its latest UK-focused fund on £459 million (€538 million; $600 million) this week, its second since the group spun out from UK investment bank Close Brothers in 2009.

Since 2010, Inflexion Private Equity tops the list of biggest managers in the UK-focused private equity market, having raised double the capital of its nearest rival, according to PEI Research & Analytics.

Domestic fund managers dominate the top 10, with just two, Oakley Capital Investments and Highland Capital Partners, based in Bermuda and the United States respectively, taking eighth and ninth place.

Looking forward, it appears that Oakley Capital Investments and Phoenix Equity Partners are set to climb the list with two of the biggest UK-focused funds in market, targeting £750 million and £500 million respectively. Other funds in market being raised by firms not currently listed in the top 10, such as F2 Ventures’ Fund IV, targeting $500 million, could indicate a further shift in ranking in the coming year.
