At PERE Research & Analytics, we wanted to see how Central and Eastern European (CEE) focused fundraisings were faring in comparison to other capital being raised in Europe.

Looking at the past six-years, we found that investor preference for Pan-European funds has been replaced by a preference for funds focused on Western Europe, with funds focused on the CEE region remaining few and far between. One CEE focused fund currently in market is the Revetas Capital Recovery Fund I which reached a first close in February 2014. However, in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, investors feel more comfortable committing capital to funds focused on more developed markets.

Pan-European funds are slowly making a comeback. No doubt, this has been assisted by large Pan-European funds that have been raised by established fund managers such as the Perella Weinberg Real Estate Fund II managed by Perella Weinberg Partners, and the European Property Investors Special Opportunities III fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners.
