CBRE Multi adds Brookfield’s Sisson as head of Americas

Paul Sisson, former head of originations for the debt investment business of Brookfield Asset Management, will join CBRE Global Multi Manager as head of Americas.

CBRE Global Multi Manager, the independent multi manager division of CBRE Global Investors, has tapped Paul Sisson, former head of originations for the debt investment platform of Brookfield Asset Management, as its new head of Americas.

In his new role, Sisson will lead the firm’s Americas multi manager team and be responsible for investments in primary funds, secondaries, co-investments and programmatic joint ventures with operating partners. He will be based in New York.

“As our investment approach has migrated from fund of funds to programmatic JVs, clubs and co-investments, we are pleased to welcome a senior professional with Paul’s experience to lead our investment activity in the US,” said chief executive officer of CBRE GMM Jeremy Plummer in a statement.

Sisson, who started in the position on Monday, is replacing Scott Brown, who joined Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors in late January as the firm’s new president. The Hartford, Connecticut-based real estate investment platform of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance appointed Brown to take over the role of president from David Reilly, who remains at Cornerstone as chief executive officer.

Prior to joining CBRE, Sisson was a senior vice president and head of originations for Brookfield Real Estate Financial Partners, the debt investment platform of Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management. Before Brookfield, Sisson held various positions at Starwood Capital Group, where he was a member of the acquisitions team responsible for structuring debt and equity transactions for their global opportunity fund.

He has experience in sourcing and structuring both debt and equity investments including senior, stretched senior and mezzanine investments, and equity joint ventures with real estate operating partners.
