CBRE Investors hires multifamily exec

Just one month after the global real estate investor announced plans to "aggressively" expand its presence in the US multifamily arena, CB Richard Ellis Investors hires former Berkshire Property Advisors professional Stephen Zaleski to lead the effort.

Richard Ellis has appointed former Berkshire Property Advisors partner Stephen Zaleski to lead its expansion into the US multifamily market.

Just last month, CBRE Investors announced it had acquired a majority interest in Atlanta-based multifamily property developer Wood Partners in an effort to expand into the multifamily residential sector. Wood Partners develops and acquires high density and mixed-use complexes in the multifamily housing sector, focusing on the development of Class A apartments.

Zaleski, a former partner and head of acquisitions at Berkshire Property Advisors, will join CBRE as managing director. Zaleski has also served as a principal and multifamily acquisitions director with Lend Lease Real Estate and Boston Financial Group and is on the advisory committee of the National Multifamily Housing Council.

“We are focused on building an industry-leading multifamily investment platform,” said Vance Maddocks, CBRE Investors chief executive, in a statement. “Steve brings to us a wealth of expertise, relationships and access to capital in this sector that will enable us to aggressively pursue our objectives in the multifamily space.”
