CBRE appoints two for capital advisory team

The London-based property services firm has appointed Caroline James and Alex Dewey as senior directors at CBRE Capital Advisors, with the aim of strengthening the firm’s equity raising capabilities.

CBRE, the London-based property services firm, has appointed two directors with a combined 19 years’ experience in the real estate industry to the advisory arm of its business.

Caroline James and Alex Dewey have both joined CBRE Capital Advisors as senior directors in the equity placement team, which is led by the advisory arm’s executive director Mark Evans.

Prior to working at CBRE, James worked at London-based real estate advisory and placement business First Avenue Partners, where she spent nine years specializing in fund-led equity placement with a primary focus on real estate.

Dewey, formerly a member of the real estate corporate finance team at professional services firm EY, has more than 10 years’ experience working in the sector, advising on high profile investment transactions, real estate restructuring, joint ventures and fund equity placements.

The appointments come as CBRE Capital Advisors, which is led by Richard Dakin, continues to expand its capabilities across the UK and EMEA’s corporate finance Markets. Both new hires, Dakin said, will focus on raising equity for investment opportunities driven by both asset and fund-led initiatives.

“We are thrilled to welcome both Caroline and Alex to our expanding team. We foresee significant opportunity in the market as new sources of global capital are seeking best in class managers to access real asset exposure,” said Evans. “Their appointments will strengthen our offering, helping us to build distinct advantages for our clients as they seek more structured solutions for their respected assets.”

In June, CBRE appointed Alexandre Astier as managing director of its Italian capital markets team. He took over from Paolo Bellacosa who decided to step down from his role to pursue other interests after 12 years with the company. While in December last year, the firm strengthened its Chinese operations with the hire of Alan Li as head of capital markets for the Greater China region, which includes China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
