CBRE appoints new head of European strategy

Continuing to expand its European research team, the global real estate investment firm has added former IPD chief economist Sabina Kalyan as its new European strategy chief.

Former IPD chief economist Sabina Kalyan is joining Richard Ellis as European head of strategy – a newly created position at the firm. She will be based in London.

Kalyan is tasked with creating a research platform to support the firm’s European investments, from real estate securities and fund of funds to its direct core, value-added and opportunistic strategies. She will also be responsible for developing CBRE Investors’ views on the outlook for the European economy, financial markets and national property markets.

Prior to joining CBRE, Kalyan was chief economist at the IPD where she was responsible for the UK and European forecasting service and analyzing the impact of economic developments on global property markets. Before that, Kalyan worked at Capital Economics where she developed their UK residential and commercial property market analysis and forecasting service.

The recent hire follows CBRE’s appointment in January of Isabelle Assens, who joined the Paris office. The two will work closely to develop the firm’s market views on the key metro areas across continental Europe and emerging CEE markets.
