AXA IM – RA creates client capital group, appoints head

Former head of AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets’ commercial real estate finance team, Charles Daulon du Laurens, will lead the firm’s new investor relations and capital raising department.

Charles Daulon du Laurens has been appointed as global head of a client capital group at AXA Investment Managers (IM) – Real Assets, the subsidiary of French insurance giant AXA.

Daulon du Laurens’ responsibilities include leading the investor relations team in three continents, EMEA, Asia and North America, as well as capital raising for AXA IM – Real Assets’ entire product range, including both equity and debt offerings.

Daulon du Laurens joined AXA IM – Real Assets in 2012 to run the capital raising efforts of the investment manager’s commercial real estate finance platform. Since late December 2014, he has managed the group’s sales in Europe, the Middle East and Canada.

An AXA spokesman said: “Charles helped grow the firm’s debt platform into its leading European position, overseeing an increase in third-party capital of over €5 billion, in addition to attracting in excess of 40 new investors.”

Prior to joining AXA IM – Real Assets, Daulon du Laurens had stints at UBS, Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers and Nomura.

The appointment follows the departure of global chief investment officer Dennis Lopez this month. Lopez, who had been with AXA IM since 2009, will become chief executive of QuadReal Property Group, the real estate investment arm of British Columbia Investment Management Corporation.

Anne Kavanagh, the former global head of asset management and transactions, also left the firm earlier this year to become chief investment officer at Patrizia Immobilien, the Augsburg-based real estate investment manager.
