JLL appoints Meadows as head of UK capital markets

The Chicago-based property services firm has tapped cross-border capital transactions specialist Alistair Meadows to develop the firm’s roster of global clients.

JLL, the Chicago-based property services firm, has appointed Alistair Meadows as head of UK capital markets where he will be tasked with overseeing the investment strategy of the firm’s UK clients.

The appointment follows the recent promotion of current head of UK capital markets Chris Ireland to UK chief executive officer.

Meadows, who will formally take up his new post in the New Year, has over 20 years of international real estate experience in Asia Pacific and Europe. Based in Singapore, he currently heads up JLL’s international capital group and specializes in cross-border capital transactions.

Prior to joining JLL’s Singapore office in 2010, he was based in the firm’s Sydney location between 2000 and 2010, and its London office between 1995 and 2000. While in London, he was responsible for major cross-border transactions totaling over $3 billion.

“Alistair’s experience in Asia Pacific and his deep knowledge of cross-border investment will make him an excellent leader,” said Ireland. “It will put the team in a prime position to give our clients the best investment advice and opportunities in an increasingly global arena.”

Meadows said: “The UK capital markets team already commands an impressive market share of real estate investments. Post the EU referendum vote, clients are looking to us now more than ever for trusted advice and new investment opportunities. I am looking forward to returning to the UK and continuing the team’s success.”

JLL’s capital markets team comprises over 150 investment specialists advising clients, which include real estate owners and investors from high-net-worth individuals to large institutional investors.

In May, LaSalle Investment Management, the real estate investment management business of JLL, appointed David Ironside as European chief executive officer. Ironside was formerly head of acquisitions, having joined LaSalle in 2001.
